I Love Myself Affirmations

I am not the smartest person you may know,
But I hate to say ' I do not know!'

I am not the prettiest woman among the ones you know,
But I hate to walk with my head low!

I am not the bravest person among the ones you've met,
But I hate to admit 'I cannot do it'!

I am perfectly contented being me.
I act with total assurance in all that I do.
Because I know I am worthy.
And so do you!

P.S: Embrace yourself. :)

My Top 10 Guilty Pleasure

10) Sleeping in on Sunday morning when I tell my mama I'm going to wake up early and do my laundry and start working on my assignments.

9) pretending to be talking on my handphone when I see people  that I know but don't really wanna talk to that day. I feel guilty but it works! Hehe..

8) YouTube! I like browsing and watching those videos, some of the big names put on YouTube namely Nigahiga, Joseph Vincent , Sam Tsui, Legaci , Boyceavenue , Victor Kim, Jason Chen and few others. And I don't mind watching the same video over and over again! Hee~

7) Tweeting while eating at the restaurants. So I really appreciate those eateries that have free Wi-Fi because they understand that not every patron has an iPhone or Blackberry or any types of phone which has "24-hour internet access" :(

6) Creeping on Facebook - especially when I have assignments due sometime soon and I can't focus! So I will start stalking my friends' profiles, browsing their friend's friends' pictures, investigating their relationship status etc. Ooops, you caught me! Haha..

5) Asian guys with accents. WEIRD! I know..

4) Googling my own name. Perasan kan?

3)When I find a song I like, I listen to it over and over and over and over again till I can't stand it.

2) Coffee! I have been addicted since I can't remember! I can drink up to three cups of coffee in one day!  I think my coffee consumption is too high but I don't like the idea of quitting coffee though ! Huu~

1) Excessive shopping! I love shopping! I mean, hello, who doesn't!! Plus, I have this tendency of buying things whenever I am feeling down! Hoho.. I pop down to the shopping mall to relieve my tension/stress/whatever, and a few hours later I’m walking out with huge grin with a couple of new things! Herm ~

So those are my Top Ten Guilty Pleasures.  When I first thought of writing this post I thought how am I going to think of ten?  But after I started writing I actually left several off.  Apparently I have a lot! Haha..

What are yours? :)

I Eat Therefore I Write. I Write Therefore I Eat.

Hello peeps. This one is going to be quick. It's been days since I last updated. Hee~

This week was one of the busiest weeks ever! I had just submitted my CS, the toughest assignment (so far) on Monday!  Fuhh ~ what a relief! Some of you might have no idea how much I suffered because of this assignment! I kept on editing my essay til' the very last hour before submission deadline and I was still not satisfied with the final draft! The 3500-words assignment was super duper tough! But never mine lar! Now for the very first time, I only wish I can get a pass for the assignment. Yup, a pass is good enough! Huu ~

I still have three more assignments due sometime next weeks. Seriously, I have not much time left and as I’m writing this, I have not yet finished any of those three. Hoho..Ok stop nagging about my assignments. InsyaAllah, I’ll try my best to cope with everything.

Let's talk about some good things that happened this week. Last Wednesday, my friends and I made a surprise visit to Kak Wani at Gravy Baby. It was so good to see her and have dinner together. Btw, Gravy Baby is awesome. I like the environment here - comfy and relaxing! And my western fried rice was great! Unfortunately, we had to rush back to IPBA because of the curfew hour! Duhh, lame~ I know! But there's always a next time, right?

Ok lah, I am going to sleep now. I need to wake up early because I am having my first ever driving lesson tomorrow. Haha..Have a good weekend everyone.

Goodbye, until then.

Earth Hour: Watts Up with That?

Earth Hour is a global event organized by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature, also known as World Wildlife Fund) and is held on the last Saturday of March annually, asking households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. (Wikipedia)

Today is the dayAt 8.30 PM, lights will switch off around the globe for Earth Hour. It's good to see thousands of Malaysians signed up to participate in Earth Hour.

Unfortunately, the real intention of 'celebrating' Earth Hour seems to be misunderstood and misused. Earth Hour is an environmental project to raise awareness of the environmental issues that the world are facing, and together, we try to address and overcome the issues to make this world a better and healthier place to live in.

However, in Malaysia, Earth Hour is quite heavily commercialized. There are a number of candlelight events, concerts,  and parties are being/to be held to “celebrate” Earth Hour. All of this goes directly against the whole point of conserving energy. Why?

Read this:

When events are held, it involves transportation. People have to get to the venue. Even if they carpool, it would still involve driving, hence burning of more petrol and release of more carbon dioxide. And no matter how low-key the event (for instance, a dance in the dark), a certain amount of energy is still needed.
One of the most wasteful acts that one can do for Earth Hour is lighting candles – especially when done in masses. You would be burning candles unnecessarily, and emitting more carbon dioxide and air pollutants such as soot.

So I don't see the points of 'celebrating' Earth Hour in the forms of concert, parties, gatherings etc because all these will cause an actual increase in energy consumptions! In the end, no energy is conserved and the world has wasted an hour celebrating nothing.

It's not necessary to host a big concert just to tell people to turn off the lights. You can do it at home at no extra charge. In fact, if we really believe in saving energy, we should have 'Earth Hour' everyday and be more energy efficient in our daily lives.

Goodbye, until then.

Who made headlines today?

Today's interesting news headlines:

Anwar lodges police report: Sex video a conspiracy to force me and my wife to quit politics(Read here)

There are 18 videos involving politician (Read here)

Herm, another sex scandal hits Malaysia and the whole world (not just Malaysian) is talking about it! Interestingly, WHO is being alleged of a sex scandal? A key politician! I have the feeling that Malaysian politic is getting lame and dirtier, and this is not healthy for our future development. It shows the declining value of our community. Given such a scenario, I was wondering what does the future hold for our next generation and those after? :(

Menang bukan kerana nasib: Chong Wei berjaya kerana sudah matang, ‘Super Dan’ tak demam (Read here)

Lagi satu budaya tidak sihat! Menang pun bising, kalah lagi lah!

Congratulations to Lee Chong Wei for retaining the All England title last two weeks. I watched the final match and I could say Lee Chong Wei deserved to win! I am not an expert in badminton game but I think many will agree if I said that the match was one of his best so far.

So I just couldn't understand why some people talked bad about LCW and said he won it because he was lucky. Lin Dan himself admitted that his strategy didn't work and he committed more errors than usual. Yes, Lin Dan may be the best badminton player world could ever have, but we have to remember, badminton is not just about smashing the shuttle towards the opponent, hoping he might not be able to return it successfully. You need strategy! Lee Chong Wei won because his strategy worked better than Lin Dan's.

Aiya, Malaysians ar! Bila LCW kalah, cakap "LCW mana boleh beat LD!" or "LCW bukan terer pun!" Bila menang, cakap pula "Ala, nasib baik ja tue!" or "LD kasi chance dia menang!!". So not supportive! Apa yang dorang mahu sebenarnya? Entah lah!

Marilah kita terus menyokong atlit-atlit Malaysia. Mereka menang, kita sorak! Mereka kalah, kita pujuk, jangan kutuk! Majulah sukan untuk negara. :)

P/S: Good luck to Malaysian cyclists in the World Track Championships in Denmark this weekend.

Goodbye, until then.

My Artist of the Month

Currently I am listening to and have been for the last two weeks or so:

Jack Johnson - To the Sea

Thank you to Lee Kok Lian for introducing Jack Johnson to me. Honestly, I was not really into this mellow type of music until  the day KL offered me to listen to his iPod. Well I had to listen to whatever songs in his iPod because it is his! Haha..Anyway I am glad I didn't 'force' KL to change the songs! So thanks again KL! :)

Anyway, everytime I'm listening to Jack Johnson's songs, I feel like he is telling me a 'story'. The lyrics are gut-wrenchingly beautiful and thoughtful. It gives me a very positive feeling. It makes me happy! So, in my opinion, this is a great album and you can't afford to skip even one single on it. Hehe..

Tracklist:
1. You and Your Heart
2. No Good With Faces
3. At or With Me
4. When I Look Up
5. From the Clouds
6. Turn Your Love
7. The Upsetter
8. To the Sea
9. My Little Girl
10. Red Wine, Mistakes, Mythology
11. Pictures of People Taking Pictures
12. Anything but the Truth
13. Only the Ocean
14. What You Thought You Need (Live From Yokohama) (Japan Bonus Track)

I love every song and I honestly couldn't pick a favorite. But the songs that I always find myself singing is "From the Cloud". It's just so relaxing and happy. So if you are looking for an album or singles to listen to, I strongly recommend To the Sea by Jack Johnson. Happy listening :)
